• Graduate Medical Education (GME) Accreditation

    Residency Accreditation Sites 

    To gain and maintain accreditation, residency programs are expected to comply with accreditation standards for their discipline. In addition, institutions sponsoring residency programs are expected to adhere to a set of institutional requirements. Compliance with the ACGME's standards is measured through periodic review of all programs. Information can be found at:

    • Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) 
      The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) is the organization responsible for accrediting the majority of graduate medical education training programs (i.e., internships, residencies and fellowships, aka subspecialty residencies) for physicians in the United States.
    • American Osteopathic Association (AOA)
      The American Osteopathic Association (AOA) is the representative member organization for more than 123,000 osteopathic medical physicians (D.O.s) and osteopathic medical students in the United States. The LA is involved in post-graduate training for osteopathic physicians.
    • National Residency Match Program (NRMP) 
      The National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) or the Match, is a private non-profit organization that provides the mechanism for matching the preferences of applicants for U.S. residency positions with the preferences of residency program directors.
    • AOA Intern/Resident Registration Program
      The AOA Intern/Resident Registration Program is a matching program that places students into AOA-accredited graduate medical education positions in the United States. The Intern/Resident Registration Program (the "Match") is sponsored and supervised by the  American Osteopathic Association (AOA). The Match is administered on behalf of the AOA by  National Matching Services, Inc.
